The holy season of Lent begins tomorrow with the imposition of ashes on the foreheads of all who will participate in the Eucharistic Celebration. For this reason, today is called “Ash Wednesday.” The day before, is commonly known as Fat Tuesday. Tuesday is the last day of celebration and indulgence before the fasting associated with lent.
The practice of imposing ashes on the forehead of Christian believers as a sign of repentance and penitence for one’s sins and an acknowledgement of our human frailty can be traced back to the early years of Christianity.
In the adult film industry this year, many directors are celebrating Fat Tuesday in an “unorthodox way.” Several large companies are making films only using “fat girls.”
“The majority of our viewers are reformed Christians, so we want to appeal to them,” said an unnamed director. “It is hard to think up new themes all the time, so this is the big thing that we hope will offend people in 2010. We are also considering Ass Wednesday.”
