SWITZERLAND – A cannibal has been arrested after his “dinner guest” changed his mind and called the cops.

The would-be victim from Switzerland answered an internet advert from the 43-year-old man seeking someone who would agree to be killed, cooked and eaten.

He claims he thought the offer — posted by a man in Slovakia — was nothing more than a “macabre fantasy game”.

But he said after speaking to the unnamed man on the phone, he realised he was “deadly serious”.

He alerted Swiss police who informed their Slovakian counterparts on Monday.
The cops sent in an undercover officer posing as the victim in a sting operation to catch the suspected flesh-eater.

But as officers attempted to arrest the man yesterday, in the north-eastern village of Kysak, a gunfight broke out and the man and a cop were shot.

A Kysak police spokesman said: “It appears this man was genuinely seeking to eat someone.

“His ad said he wanted someone who would agree to be put to sleep then killed, cut up, cooked and eaten.

“One of our officers and the suspect both suffered gunshot wounds during the arrest and are both being treated in hospital.”

WISE, VA -  Jessica Gilliam, a WWN reader, has provided this eyewitness account of a close encounter with a UFO.

Here’s Jessica’s account:

“Last January my husband and I were driving back from my parents house.  We were driving by our local high school when we noticed a bright light in the sky. The light in the sky was so bright that it was noticeably not an airplane.   The light also had a cross shape too it.  We stared at the light for a moment and then I grabbed our cell phone too take a picture of it.

“The thing is our cell phone died, which was odd because it had been fully charged before.  Also the radio did not work at the time we saw the light.  We looked back to the light which then had taken a vertical dart to the left then it flew a little to the side and then darted back up into the sky until it vanished.  The light darted so fast it was almost if it were a ping-pong ball that darted  through the sky.”

We filled a report with the government agencies online the next day.  We almost wanted to forget about it after words because it frightened us that we could not figure out what it was, but the government agencies that we contacted would call non stop during the day and night.  We didn’t answer the phone because we almost did not want to seem like we were crazy but they continued to call non stop.

I know it seems crazy to be that paranoid but I am certain if the government thought it was nothing they wouldn’t have been calling like crazy…  I do not know if it is related or not but after that my husband and I have had nothing but bad luck if something would go wrong it would happen to us.

Our string of bad luck included me breaking my leg and having too have almost a completely new metal ankle, my husband getting hurt in the military and getting discharged, and two of our vehicles tearing up to the point of us having to get rid of them and one of the vehicles was brand new.”

NEW YORK — The Bio Channel is giving Bristol Palin a reality series – centered on her recent marriage to two men.

The network said Monday that Palin will star in a 10-episode series. She is the daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and a former contestant on “Dancing With the Stars.�

The new series will follow her move from Alaska to Los Angeles with her son, Tripp, to work at a small charity.

It will also follow her new lifestyle.  She recently married two men, Kyle and Christopher Massey – in a private ceremony in Utah.  The reality show will follow their new life together – as the three young stars co-parent Tripp.

Bristol fell in love with Kyle Massey, a fellow “Dancing� contestant, during the show and after being introduced to Christopher, she fell in love with him.

Like Charlie Sheen, Bristol calls her two lovers – The Gods.

The 20-year-old Palin has earned hundreds of thousands of dollars as a spokeswoman working to prevent teen pregnancy, though she does encourage teens to “have as much sex as you can, because you never know, you may get a reality show someday.”

The as-yet-untitled series is slated to air in late 2011.  She’s ready to spread her wings!

LONDON – Thousands of bees that were part of a million dollar research project have been stolen!

The British black bees, worth between $6,000 and $15,000 each were taken from the grounds of the a British Hospital in Newell on Sunday morning.

They were contained in four hives and were being used in a £2m neuroscience study at Dundee University.

The lead researcher on the project, Dr Chris Connolly, said the thieves must have known how to handle bees.

“It is very disheartening that this has happened and, whilst we are still taking stock of the full implications if the bees are not returned, this theft will undoubtedly hamper our research,” Dr Connolly said.

“The bees were there when I arrived at work on Sunday morning but were absent when I went to work on them 20 minutes later.

“Two middle-aged men in a white van were seen pulling up beside the hives at this time and clearly whoever did this knows what they were doing and how to handle bees.”

“Important research,” Dr Connolly said the bees were unique and should be easy to identify.

It is not known whether they were stolen for their breeding potential or for another reason.

The study was investigating the potential effect of pesticides on bee learning and health.

The scientist added: “This is very important research given the decline in honeybee numbers so I would urge anyone with information to get in touch with the police.”

The cedar wood hives, made by Thorne, were taken from the grassy area to the south of the East Block at Ninewells Hospital.

Tayside Police said they were keen to trace a white box van and two men that were seen in the area some time before 1000 BST on Sunday.

One of the men was wearing a bonnet.

ROME –  Thousands of Romans are fleeing in fear of a devastating earthquake  forecast for May 11th.

For months Italian internet sites, blogs and social networks have been debating the work of Raffaele Bendandi, who claimed to have forecast numerous earthquakes and, predicted a “big one” in Rome on May 11.

The national television network RAI has run programs aimed at calming rising panic among Romans. The civil protection agency has issued statements reiterating the official scientific view that earthquakes can’t be predicted.

Yet many residents of the Eternal City aren’t listening.

“I’m going to tell the boss I’ve got a medical appointment and take the day off,” barman Fabio Mengarelli told Reuters. “If I have to die I want to die with my wife and kids, and masses of people will do the same as me.”

Chef Tania Cotorobai also said she would be taking a day off in the country. “I don’t know if I really believe it but if you look at the internet you see everything and the opposite of everything, and it end up making you nervous,” she said.

Memories are still vivid of the 2009 earthquake in L’Aquila, which killed more than 300 people and was also felt in Rome.

On that occasion controversy also swirled around a scientist, Giampaolo Giuliani, who in the preceding days tried to warn the local population of an imminent quake — though officials say he was wrong about its precise location.

Bendandi, who died in 1979 aged 86, believed earthquakes were the result of the combined movements of the planets, the moon and the sun and were perfectly predictable.

In 1923 he forecast a quake would hit the central Adriatic region of the Marches on January 2 the following year. He was wrong by two days but Italy’s main newspaper Corriere della Sera still ran a front page article on “The man who forecasts earthquakes.”

Bendandi’s fame grew and in 1927 he was awarded a knighthood by Fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. During his long career his theories were studied by several prominent foreign astronomers.

However the current panic appears to be due more to fear-mongering in the age of internet than to Bendandi himself.

Paola Lagorio, the president of an association dedicated to Bendandi and which preserves all his manuscripts, says they make no reference to any earthquake around Rome in 2011.

BRISBANE -   A UFO was spotted on the Gold Coast of Australia.

A 10-minute video shot on the Gold Coast of a bright light in the sky has created a storm on YouTube – more proof of UFOs over Australia.

Brisbane man Sean Coulter was “winding down” from a night of partying at Tallai with 10 friends about 4:30 a.m. when he spotted the strange light.

After watching the ”strange light moving about” for 15 minutes, they decided to film it, capturing 10 minutes of footage.

Mr Coulter said the light appeared to slowly move away from them and draw clouds towards it, followed by a flash electrical storm.

“It was … in front of the clouds and there wasn’t a star to be seen, just this bright white light,” Mr Coulter said.

“It was moving left to right and was only a couple of hundred meters away.

“The whole thing was really eerie. It was like it was watching us.”

When the clouds cleared, he said the object was gone.

“I’ve never seen anything like it before,” he said.

“It was out of this world.

“Some of my friends that saw it are the biggest skeptics you’ve ever met but after seeing it they believe in UFOs.

“I work as a traffic controller so I spend a lot of time outside at night and see lots of things in the sky.

“This was like nothing else.”

UFO Research Queensland is examining Mr Coulter’s footage.

Sightings officer Martin Gottschall said there had been a spike in UFO “sightings” on the Gold Coast this year, reaching its peak in January and February when the Queensland floods hit.

While unable to put a number on the sightings, he said, anecdotally, the number of mysterious objects sighted in our skies was on the rise and types of UFOs had become more sophisticated.

“We’ve reached a stage where UFOs now camouflage themselves as ordinary objects, such as stars, so humans don’t notice them as much,” Mr Gottschall said.

“Around the Gold Coast area and up to the Sunshine Coast there have been a lot more reports than usual this year.

“The most common thing we hear about is yellow lights but UFOs can take many forms and colors.”

A spokesman from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority said he was not aware of recent UFO reports on the Coast.

RALEIGH, N.C. – According to a Christian group, Judgment Day is May 21, 2011.  Soon after… we’ll all be dead.

Marie Exley would have liked to start a family. Instead, the 32-year-old Army veteran has less than two months left on the planet and she is going to spend her time spreading the word: Judgment Day is almost here.

Exley is part of a movement of Christians loosely organized by radio broadcasts and websites, independent of churches and convinced by their reading of the Biblethat the end of the world will begin May 21, 2011.

Technically, May 21st is Judgment Day, or The Rapture, so the world won’t end that day, it’s just the beginning of the end… But, don’t worry, it will end VERY soon after.  Probably by October 21st of this year – at the latest.

To get the word out, they’re using billboards and bus stop benches, traveling caravans of RVs and volunteers passing out pamphlets on street corners. Cities from Bridgeport, Conn., to Little Rock, Ark., now have billboards with the ominous message, and mission groups are traveling through Latin America and Africa to spread the news outside the U.S.

“A lot of people might think, ‘The end’s coming, let’s go party, let’s drink and have multiple sex partners” said Exley, a veteran of two deployments in Iraq. “But we’re commanded by God to warn people. I wish I could just be like everybody else, but it’s so much better to know that when the end comes, you’ll be safe.”

Last August, Exley left her home in Colorado Springs, Colo., to work with Oakland, Calif.-based Family Radio Worldwide, the independent Christian ministry whose leader, Harold Camping, has calculated the May 21 date based on his reading of the Bible.

Her husband left for Vegas to drink and spend his life savings on prostitutes.

Exley, in the meantime, is organizing traveling columns of RVs carrying the message from city to city, a logistics challenge that her military experience has helped solve. The vehicles are scheduled to be in five North Carolina cities between now and the second week of January, but Exley will shortly be gone: overseas, where she hopes to eventually make it back to Iraq.

“I don’t really have plans to come back,” she said. “Time is short.”

Not everyone who’s heard Camping’s message is taking such a dramatic step. They’re remaining in their day-to-day lives, but helping publicize the prophecy in other ways. Allison Warden, of Raleigh, has been helping organize a campaign using billboards, post cards and other media in cities across the U.S. through a website, We Can Know.

The 29-year-old payroll clerk laughs when asked about reactions to the message, which is plastered all over her car.

“It’s definitely against the grain, I know that,” she said. “We’re hoping people won’t take our word for it, or Harold Camping’s word for it. We’re hoping that people will search the scriptures for themselves.”

Camping, 89, believes the Bible essentially functions as a cosmic calendar explaining exactly when various prophecies will be fulfilled.  But he’s 89, so he’s not so worried about the world ending.  He’s already done all the living he wants to do.

The retired civil engineer said all his calculations come from close readings of the Bible, but that external events like the foundation of the state of Israel in 1948 are signs confirming the date.

“Beyond the shadow of a doubt, May 21 will be the date of the Rapture and the day of judgment,” he said.

The doctrine known as the Rapture teaches that believers will be taken up to heaven, while everyone else will remain on earth for a period of torment, concluding with the end of time. Camping believes that will happen in October.

“If May 21 passes and I’m still here, that means I wasn’t saved. Does that mean God’s word is inaccurate or untrue? Not at all,”  Wardensaid.

The belief that Christ will return to earth and bring an end to history has been a basic element of Christian belief since the first century. The Book of Revelation, which comes last in the New Testatment, describes this conclusion in vivid language that has inspired Christians for centuries.

Few churches are willing to set a date for the end of the world, heeding Jesus’ words in the gospels of Mark and Matthew that no one can know the day or hour it will happen. Predictions like Camping’s, though, aren’t new. One of the most famous in history was by the Baptist leader William Miller,who predicted the end for Oct. 22, 1844, which came to be known as the Great Disappointment among his followers, some of whom subsequently founded the Seventh Day Adventist church.

Ron Hardeski of Bayonne, New Jersey also predicted the world would end on February 27th, 2004 – his wife’s 50th birthday.  The world didn’t end, so Ron beat his wife to death with a Bible.  He’s serving a life sentence.

“In the U.S., there is still a significant population, mostly Protestant, who look at the Bible as kind of a puzzle, and the puzzle is God’s word and it’s predicting when the end times will come,” said Catherine Wessinger, a professor at Loyola University in New Orleans who studies millennialism, the belief in pending apocalypse.

“A lot of times these prophecies gain traction when difficulties are happening in society,” she said. “Right now, there’s a lot of insecurity, and this is a promise that says it’s not all random, it’s part of God’s plan.”

Past predictions that failed to come true don’t have any bearing on the current calculation, believers maintain.

“It would be like telling the Wright brothers that every other attempt to fly has failed, so you shouldn’t even try,” said Chris McCann, who works with eBible Fellowship, one of the groups spreading the message.

“If you want to say we’re crazy, go ahead,” she said. “But when you’re dead on May 21st (or soon after), you’ll know we were right.  And you’ll thank us.”

BREAKING NEWS – Osama bin Laden was spotted in Tehran yesterday!

Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, startled the world this morning, by announcing that Osama bin Laden is alive and well and living in Tehran.

Ahmadinejad says bin Laden is living comfortable inside a guarded compound north of Tehran. He is surrounded by his third wife and a few children. He keeps a low profile, is allowed limited travel and, in exchange for silence, is given a comfortable life under the protection of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.

Just yesterday Al Qaeda leaders confirmed that Osama bin Laden was dead, but Ahmadinejad brushed off that suggestion.  “Osama and I have been watching Fox News and CNN the last few days.  We find the fictitious stories coming out of Washington laughable.”

Ahmadinejad said that Osama bin Laden has been in Tehran since 2003.

The White House was quick to respond.  “We knew all along that there would be conspiracy theories, and doubters.   The Iranian president can indulge in his fantasies, but Osama bin Laden is dead,” said Jay Carney, White House Press Secretary.

Ahmadinejad called Carney an “American idiot” and went on to say that Carney and the White House had “changed their story about the killing of Osama bin Laden eighteen times since Sunday.”

Iranian leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, also went on Al Jazeera to also state that Osama bin Laden was alive.  “He is relaxed and healthy,” said Khamenei.  “He is ready to fight again.”

Americans around the globe are outraged at Iran’s claim, but not surprised.  “Ahmadinejad is just panicking – he knows he’s next!” said Tommy Flanagan of Newton, MA.

Coffee, sex and blowing your nose increase the risk of of stroke, say researchers in the Netherlands.

The study on 5,000 patients identified eight risk factors linked to bleeding on the brain.

They all increase blood pressure which could result in blood vessels bursting, according to research.

The Stroke Association of Iceland said more research was needed to see if the triggers caused the rupture.  But many strokes occur each year and a good portion are due to bleeding on the brain.

Bleeding can happen when a weakened blood vessel, known as a brain aneurysm, bursts. This can result in brain damage or death.

The researchers at the University Medical Center in Bangalore looked at 5,000 patients for three years to identify what triggers ruptures.

They found that coffee was responsible for more than one in 10 burst brain aneurysms.  And if you drink coffee before, after or during sex – it goes up to 7 in 10.

While people drinking coffee had only a 1.7 times greater risk, it is more common than other risk factors. And if you have sex after, before or during sex – it’s a 6.5 times greater risk.

Being startled increased the risk by more than 23 times, but was responsible for just 2.7% of cases.

Dr. Babu Valden, a neurologist and the study’s lead author, said: “All of the triggers induce a sudden and short increase in blood pressure, which seems a possible common cause for aneurysmal rupture.”

The authors said one in 50 people has a brain aneurysm, but only a few rupture.

Dr Vladen advised that: “Reducing caffeine consumption or treating constipated patients with unruptured intracranial (brain) aneurysms with laxatives may lower the risk of subarachnoid haemorrhage.  And for God’s sake… don’t have sex with your coffee!”

The study only looked at the triggers for the burst. High blood pressure weakens blood vessels in the first place and can be caused by being overweight, smoking and a lack of exercise.

Dr. Martin Hajinkin, Research Liaison Officer at The Stroke Association of Iceland said: “A sudden surge in high blood pressure can increase the likelihood of an aneurysm rupturing.”

“A lot more research needs to be carried out to assess whether each of the identified triggers could directly cause an aneurysm to rupture.”
